Tanger Outlets 5K Run/Walk Events Bring Shoppers Together for Family Fitness and Outlet Shopping Fun
GREENSBORO, N.C., Aug. 4, 2009 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- In addition to providing great savings and values, Tanger Outlet Centers serve as popular gathering places in communities all across America. With this in mind, Tanger is inviting its shoppers to get moving together for a great cause -- to promote the benefits of family exercise and to continue the battle against breast cancer. Kicking off on Saturday, August 22nd, 15 Tanger centers in 12 states will embark on a three-month schedule of onsite community events designed to put shoppers on the path to good health while providing an exhilarating day of fitness and outlet shopping fun at Tanger.
Four Tanger centers will host their first annual Fit For Families 5K Run/Walk event, while eleven Tanger centers are tying their event into Tanger's national campaign to fight breast cancer by holding Fit For A Cure 5K Run/Walks. The 5K events are being sponsored nationally by Tanger and HanesBrands.
Each participating Tanger Outlet Center is charting a 5K/3.1 mile course. Participants will begin the race at the official starting line at Tanger. As the event proceeds, runners and walkers alike will then wind through the streets of the local community before returning to Tanger to cross the finish line.
These family events are open to runners and walkers of all ages. Participants at each site will receive a special race pack which includes a Tanger 5K Run/Walk t-shirt and other goodies including bonus discount offers provided by many of the brand name stores at Tanger. Prizes will be awarded to division winners as well as the top 3 male and female winners. All finishers will also receive a commemorative race medal.
Runners and walkers can register by simply visiting participating Tanger Shopper Services Centers or they can register conveniently online at www.tangeroutlet.com. Early registration fee is $20 per person. Proceeds from each of these community fitness events will benefit a local charitable organization.
