Tanger Outlets Give Shoppers the Opportunity to Say Thank You to Our Troops

Tanger to collect cards and letters for US military personnel around the world

Tanger Outlet Centers is presenting a special Salute to Our Troops campaign June 29th - July 8th. Shoppers at Tanger centers across the country will have the opportunity to show the brave men and women of our armed forces just how much their selfless courage and sacrifices are appreciated. Tanger is inviting the community to drop off cards and letters for the troops at its Customer Service Centers. After the campaign, all cards and letters collected at Tanger Outlets will be shipped to US military installations around the world for our troops.

"Receiving cards and letters is something our military men and women really look forward to," remarked Major Sharon Henderson of the United States Special Operations Command Care Coalition in Tampa, Florida. "The notes of encouragement and support are so very important to the morale of our troops. It lets them know that they are in the thoughts and prayers of those of us back home and that their work is not forgotten."

As part of Tanger's national Salute to our Troops campaign, a $50,000 donation will be made by Tanger Outlet Centers. $25,000 will be presented to the Armed Forces Foundation and to the United States Wounded Soldier Foundation. These two benevolent organizations are dedicated to helping provide for the mental, physical and emotional well-being of our soldiers by supplying them with care packages and gifts, free phone cards, flights home, as well as special programs for wounded or injured soldiers. Assistance is also provided for the families of our military members who may be experiencing financial difficulties and other hardships due to the deployment of their loved ones. The Armed Forces Foundation and US Wounded Soldier Foundation will assist Tanger with distributing the cards and letters to the troops.

In addition to the collection of cards and letters from the community, Tanger will also send our troops another Big Note of Thanks. A 6 foot high x 12 foot wide card mural will be on display near each Tanger Customer Service Center. The over-sized card's colorful American Flag design is made up of hundreds of patriotic icons. Shoppers of all ages will enjoy coloring the card mural and then writing their own special message. The card mural will also be shipped with the shoppers' cards and letters to our troops.
